Hello Beautiful!

Raw Hair Care Instructions & Virgin Hair Care Instructions

Congratulations on your latest purchase of Raw or Virgin human hair extensions! They are the most luxe types of hair extensions on the market, mainly because they will cooperate the same as your natural hair would! This also means that if not taken care of properly, you will most likely experience dissatisfaction. Below are some short and simple hair care instructions which we believe will be helpful. After all, extensions are an investment, and we want to ensure their longevity.

Before You Install

Always wash your hair extensions with a moisturizing sulfate-free shampoo and hydrating conditioner before installation while leaving the bundle ties in place. For best results, dry the hair thoroughly before installing.

Raw Hair Care

Raw hair care does require a lot of work as it is most like our natural hair, so as such, you must treat your Raw hair extension as you would your hair. Even deep conditioning once per week is necessary but avoid heavy oils or layering thick styling products; if those are what you use on your hair, perhaps swap out for a thinner water-based leave-in conditioner. Just try to remember the more is not, the merrier when it comes to applying products.

Daily Upkeep

We advise that you comb your hair extensions every morning upon installation. Gently brush your hair from the ends towards your scalp. Starting from the ends keeps the pressure off the weft area, ensuring that you don’t cause unnecessary breakage or unwanted hair thinning.

Pro tip: Minimum Heat Always

Nighttime Routine

We recommend you use both a satin scarf and a satin pillowcase when sleeping with Raw extensions. These satin items help your hair retain moisture and keep your hair soft, silky, and laid. However, please beware not to sleep with wet hair extensions. The hair is more susceptible to matting and balling up when you sleep on it while wet with water or product. This makes it very difficult to keep the hair the way you want.

If you wear your extensions straight, wrap them with a few bobby pins at night to avoid using heat daily, and if you opt for voluminous curls, hairpins will keep their shape at night. Only use heat if you must, and that goes for your leave out too! You don’t want heat damage now.

Washing Your Raw Hair Extensions

Oils and dirt cause build-up, which is a nightmare for your hair extensions. Some ladies prefer to co-wash (using only conditioner), which is perfectly fine 2-3 times a week, but remember you still want to use a moisturizing sulfate-free shampoo as necessary to remove debris. Between installs or once per month, use an intensive hair masque or hot oil treatment to aid in the longevity of your Raw hair extensions.

Virgin Hair Care

“Virgin” means guaranteed to be unprocessed, free of any hair color or chemicals, retaining all cuticles in their original healthy state. Virgin hair requires less maintenance than Raw hair and is not typically needing to be washed as frequently, but always detangle your hair before wetting it using a wide-tooth comb or wig brush.

Bi-Weekly Washing

We would recommend Bi-weekly washing your hair with high-quality shampoo and following with a thick conditioner containing smoothing properties to detangle easily and minimize unwanted frizz, especially with curly hair.

Post Hair Wash Care

After washing your Virgin or Raw hair extensions, it’s important to dry the hair with a cotton hair towel, microfiber towel, or t-shirt, as regular bath towels will cause excessive frizz and even breakage. Apply a dime-sized amount of smoothing oil or glossing polish if desired to weigh down hair strands and minimize frizz throughout the day.  Allow the hair to air dry.

Pro tip: Using numerous products will leave your strands stringy, greasy, and cause build-up, so try to use only one gel or leave-in conditioner and use sparingly.
